Kate's writing career began with the fantastically named UK newspaper, The Falmouth Packet, and an uplifting front page exclusive telling the romantic story of how a round-the-world sailor found love on the ocean wave. In many ways, this set the tone for what was to come!
Kate then moved into broadcasting, working for BBC TV and radio, with the wireless being her main love (she's still inclined to be geeky about recording equipment — it's best not to go there in conversation...)
After some years spent writing (and singing!) songs, Kate turned her typing fingers to novels, including contemporary women's fiction, funny fantasy books for younger readers, a semi-fictional memoir, and her debut YA novel, THE FACE THAT PINS YOU.
Kate lives in southern Europe with her family, and writes whenever she can carve out a few hours from her full-time job as a school librarian and English teacher. She can also be found at the Litopia online writers' colony and its webcast, Pop-Up Submissions.
